This Time magazine cover about a Republican sex scandal is fantastic. The grayscale elephant is a nice contrast against the black background. It is also visually pleasing how “TIME” is behind the elephants behind instead of covering it and it is refreshing that there are not a ton of headlines cluttering the page. The cover is intriguing since it showcases the behind of an elephant rather than the front. Once one actually reads the white text it all makes sense and is rather clever and funny. The text reads, “Why a tawdry Washington sex scandal may spell the end of the Republican revolution.” As most people know, the elephant is the mascot for the Republican Party. I don’t think I need to spell this out, but the elephant is turned behind because that is where it releases waste, and that is exactly what the Republicans were in, deep dodo.
